Dont Trash an "Old Flame"...

HOLLA Ladies!  TGIF, RIGHT???

Im so sorry I did not get my Post done yesterday...Something came up and I could'nt get it done...Basically...LIFE Happened!   Anyhoo...Another GREAT Party!   Thank you all for linking up!
You can still join in as it runs through TONIGHT :)

OK!  On to these "Burned Out"...get it?, the Pun???  I know ..Kara shut up, paaalese...

These are WoodWick candles that not only I sell in my store but LOVE THEM!
They CRACKLE like a REAL fire...LUUUURVE!
AND, the Jars are PRETTY!  They have a Wood lid...SaaahWeeet!

So...DONT THROW THESE AWAY!

Just an IMPORTANT TIP...Dont EVER burn your Candles down past a 1/4 to 1/2 inch to bottom...It will crack the glass and be a Fire hazard...I want all my GUUURLZZ to be safe :)

These are Soy based which makes the "Wax" soft and EASY to scoop out!
SOY based candles will burn and become "Liquid", so they will burn down evenly...NOT down the middle like so many other candles ...they dont leave wax all around the outter edge of the glass...
BUY SOY!

Once all scooped out....

Peel off the labels and WASHA, WASHA,  WASHA till SQUEEEKY CLEAN :)

Aaaaannn...
HELLER!   How pretty are these JARS???
WHAT in the WORLD to do with them....
Me THINKS I have an idea!  OR, actually....you know...800 ideas!  {ok, maaaaaybe not 800...} :)

Pull out the paint...to paint the wood lids...
Im going with a Chocolate...Chocolate FUDGE to be exact...I NEED a lil chocolate FUDGE in my life!!!
I dont really allow myself to EAT IT...so I will just PAINT with it!

Now, PAINT!

And Paint...and Paint...Took me 3 coats...

OK...So I have been DYING to use that Glass Etching cream for a LOOOOOOOOOOOONG time!
So here goes!
These are the "Stick one" Etching stencils...but they are $$$pensive!!!

But I am gonna give em a try anyway...
They are a lil small too...but they are an ok size for this PROJECT...
KINDA!  I prefer the rule of   "Bigger is Better"...
Actually...when I picked em at Michaels and bought em...I didnt realize they were MICROSCOPIC...
Im just sayin'!!!
so go to your closet and GRAB YO BINOCULARS!!!

They will actually be "OK" for these jars...
I STILL want it bigger...BUT, I will do more when a few of my 800 candles around the house BURN OUT!

I am doing my Initals...
That kinda goes with the "Theme" in the room where these are GOING!  ;)

You KNOW my other rule!
ODD NUMBERS...99% of the time!

OK!  Here is the ETCHING CREAM...and let me just tell you...I ALMOST Passed out when I saw the PRICE...
Uuummm...CALL 911!!!
YIKERS!  This LITTLE container was $11.00....BUT, I hear it will last a long time..
It FOR SURE will if you use the MICROSCOPIC stencils made by the Etching cream Company...LOL!
HHHHMMM...MAYBE thats why they make their stencils SO SMALL!

So, you apply your stencils...apply the cream...let it set for 10-15 minutes...then wash off with soap and water...the stencils wash off at the same time...
And VOILA!  You have MASTERED the use of Etching Cream!
LOVE the look....The feather is NOT going inside the jars...it was hard for me to get my camera to show the etching

NOW...These CHOCOLATE FUDGE LIDS...NOPE...Not finished...
But yall KNOW THAT, right???
My OCD wont allow that!

NOW, im using THIS stencil...which is NOT MICROSCOPIC!  WHEW!
Can ya SEE IT?
Yeah...me too!

Im using a silver metallic paint with a Stencil sponge...

LAAAAAA!!!
LaLa Laaaaave it!
But STILL NOT DONE!

Had these little "GEMS" sitting in a drawer...I have MORE SURPRISES in my DRAWERS!
Eeewww!   Not THOSE Drawers!!!
The DRAWERS in my Workroom...
I dont need "Depends" yet....

These are the Clear Gems...
And pulled out my Glue that God made...BEST stuff ever...espicially for IMPATIENT PEEPS like me!
I Dont like waiting on PAINT to dry, GLUE to dry!
{ Actually those BOTH apply! }

Get ya GOOP!

and GLUE that Gem right on the top center :)

So I am using these in my Bathroom, on my Vanity...
LOOOOVE THEM!  I use my cotton balls, and Q-Tips every day!
The face sponges...not so much...but they were White a LOOKED pretty!

But, REALLY...Isnt that how Canisters go???
The ones in my kitchen..One hold, suger {Use all the time}, the Second holds Tea bags {Use all the time}
and the Third holds FLOUR{Uuuuumm, dont think I have ever opend it since the day I filled it!}
Eeeek!  I need to DUMP it and put in new Flour!
I dont want an WEEBLE WABBLES in my Flour!

I am K-Ray-Z about these!!!

The Etching shows up WAAAY better in PERSON!
I WANT A NEW CAMERA!!!!
So many of you...
Hey-O Liz { From Savvy Seasons }, has the BEST PICS!  Yo Yo Girlfriend...can you ship your camera to me :)
No...yeah...I know :(

AGAIN!  LOVE THESE!  And they do serve a function!
SO!  the moral of the story...
DONT TRASH AN OLD FLAME...or, DONT THROW AWAY THE JARS!

I sell a couple of different candles in my stor that come in different jars...I will try a different style soon!

Alright Decoratin Divas...I showed you MY JARS
Now...you show me YOURS :)

Have a BLESSED Day!!!!

Yay yay yay!!!! So glad I came here. I have two Woodwicks that were ready to greet the trashcan but not anymore!!! Man, I need to stretch my mind a little more...I should have thought of this! But hey, that's why I have my bloggy buds to enlighten me.

Thanks Kara!

Ceekay- Thinkin of Home said...

ah, Kara....could you have done this post about a month ago, when I threw away my Woodwick jar! I love those candles...so I will get some more!

Revamped French Maison said...

Super cute Kara! You could totally market those as bathroom accessories! I wonder if can of spray stuff that frosts glass would look the same as etching cream. That might be something to test out. I've never used etching cream but I may pick some up with a 40% off coupon. Candle jars make great storage! Now as for candles that sound like a fire....how cool is that!!!

Thanks!

Kara, love the makeover of the candle jars. I never throw those puppies away. Even the plain ones that I buy all the time at Walmart. When my candles burn down to about 1/4 to 1/2 inch, I use the electric candle warmers. After I use them for a little bit like that, I can then clean them
out -- clean as a whistle! I use them for numerous things in my craft room.

Brilliant Kara. Thanks for the tip with the soy candles. I tried that etching cream several years ago on a window and it turned out great. I need to go find my jar and hope it doesn't have an expiration date. Great job.

Such a great recycling idea! And so cute!

NanaDiana said...

Well, I am glad you showed us your jars (and didn't say jugs this time)...wait..what? Did you say that before? Hmmm...Now you will have to go back through every single post you have ever done to see where you used that term, won't you?

That turned out really cute...and I have one little tip for you. Now that you have opened that etching cream-seal it inside a zip lock plastic bag....because, for some reason, it dries out really quick if you don't.

I love those candles, too...they last forver, I love the little snip-snap sound they make as they are burning, they burn clean and they really scent up a room...expensive but soooo worth it!

Have a great weekend-Love ya, KK....xxoo Diana
