A Blooming Lamp...

So we all know that my ENTIRE WEEK last week was spent on re Organizing my Studio/Workroom....so THIS weekend I got out there and made a lil Sumpin, Sumpin...
During the Cleanup I came across this Container I already had,  this lamp I bought at the Dollar Store for 8 Bucks and the Foam ...well, it has a PERMANENT residence at my home!  I have a cabinet FULL of just foam!  And a drawer FULL of 800 packages of glue sticks!  {Theres that 800 again}
AND...Question???  If its called "The Dollar Store"...shouldnt things cost  a DOLLAR...all I know is everytime I go in there...I dont see ANYTHING that costs a dollar!  I MEAN, NOTHIN!  NADA! ZERO!
??????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????
So first I cut the foam to fit TIGHTLY into the container...TIGHT!  So it doesny BUDGE!

Then I stuff paper around the edges to make DOUBLE sure it wont move...Like, it would take a stick of DYNOMITE to get it out!  LODGED in there....a BIT like Mr GOLDFISH was LODGED in my "Mrs Pacman" Ornament!!!

I used 3 LONG floral Picks and LODGED them up into the center hole of the lamp...VERY CAREFUL to NOT get hot glue on the cord....

Then put hot glue all around on the picks and get the lamp centered {from all sides} then push the lamp down into place...

NOW!  Hot glue the TARNATION {is that a word?  Well it is for Kara...we ALL know I have my OWN Language!} Anywhooo, hot glue the TARNATION of all lamp legs onto the foam!  Hot glue till you think its STUCK for LIFE ...then glue it some more!

Now it should look like this...

Then to cover the foam, I use "Sheet Moss"...it literally is like "Sheets" of moss....and so Green and pretty!

Then cut or tear your pieces to fit over the foam....

Hot glue the Moss to the foam as you go...

And you should end up looking like this...If not, Call 1-800-Help Me Kara...{I KNOW, Too many numbers to be a REAL PHONE LINE!  Sounded good though}  :0)

Ready for FLOWERS!!!!   YAAAAAY!

Choose your Color palate...Im doing Creams with touches of Green...Heres why:
Ive had enough COLOR with Christmas and all that I was READY to do something GLITTERLESS and in a NEUTRAL palate, because this will be for sale on my ETSY...for anyone that MIGHT not want to tackle this one....Notice the size of the Cream Hydrangea...

A TIP:  If the Flower is large enough, Snip it in half and VOILA, you have 2 Flowers out of one!

Now cut the stem the length you want it....Im keeping this arragement "Low Profile" since I want the lamp to show...

WARNING!!!  To much of THIS stem cutting MAY CAUSE THUMB INJURY!!!  Refer to picture noted below!

WHAT IS THAT???  You say???   This is called a "Pick Machine"...I have one Because the TRULY proper way to make a Floral arrangement is useing a Pick at the end of each stem....

You lay the stem on the Silver Pick and pull the handle to secure it onto the stem...

This is the Handle and you just push it forward to wrap and secure the pick.....

WARNING!  This is what you get to wear if you Damage the tendon in your thumb!!!  And....Uuuhhh...Im ACTUALLY  NOT supposed to be doing this!  Sssssssssssshhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!  I was DYIN to make somethin!

And there you have it!  A PICK on the end of the stem!  This just helps secure the flower into place...You do NOT need one of these if you are not making florals on a regular basis!  The pick machine is about
$300.00.....SO...If you are doing very few floral projects....just snip the stem to the length you want and HOT GLUE the "Tarnation" out of the end before stickin it in the foam!   Again...sssssssssshhhhhhh!  I wont tell......

NOW!  Start "Building" your floral!   FUUUUUUUN!!!

These are the Hydrangeas I cut in half...still plenty of flower to look substancial...Gonna use the other halves too!

These are the greens and touch of berries I will be adding...

Im CRAAAAZY about these berries!  They are so light and and airy!

And just one of these roses....Odd # Rule!

In front....But NOT dead center....

A "Trailer" of greenery...

Im in "The Zone"....NO MAKEUP!   Eeeekkkk!

Decided to add a lil extra touch!   A little nest ....with some moss I added to it...

These TWEET lil birds come in sets of 4...not expensive at all!

HOW SWEET IS HE!?!?   Birdnests and Birds will CONTINUE to be very IN, in 2011....

And THERE!  A Blooming Lamp is DONE!  Im IN LOVE with it!  Briging a little of the Outdoors into your Home will WARM it up....I LOVE bringing in outdoor Elements...the BEAUTY GOD created for all of us to enjoy!

NOW!  800 GaZillion Photos to show all the Elements of the arrangement!  PLUS...I was having a DIFFICULT time getting the Flash to work and therefore a TERRIBLE time showing the true colors....I think I need a camera UPGRADE!!!   Is it to late to ask Santa for a new camera???  Yea, I thought so!

Against a Dark background...This is our Bedroom walls paint!  LUUUUUUUUUUUURVE the color!

This is a pic of the back of the arrangement...

The back...
When I do an arrangement, I do a 360 degree...which means it looks good from every angle...
This is side left

Side Right...

And, HELLO...The front....

Isnt he SWEET!?  He looks so COZY!

Trying to get yall some close up detail...

I LOVE to add Twigs and bend em and curl em all around!  Its a great way to add dimension to your arrangement

LOVE it at night!  It *Glows*!

So there you have it!  My FIRST Creation in my NEWLY cleaned and organized Studio!

Hope you Love!

NOW...Whats next????

Have a SUPER BLESSED day!

Kara, oh my gosh...that is BEAUTIFUL!! Great minds think alike, I literally had the same idea a few days ago. Hopefully, now, I'll have the guts to go make it. I am so impressed by it. The lamp and arrangement looks like you could have purchased it at a fine boutique. Oh, wait, you did....Kara's Boutique and Studio! *smile*

Thanks a bunch for sharing, I'm in love with it! XOXO ~Liz

makes me wanta go to our local dollar store, {i know they have lamps like that!}, and make one, too!

...or I could use the one little 6"tall one that I got at a yard sale a few years ago...

Thanx for the inspiration! I love browns, metal, and hydrangeas, so your photos are B-eauti-ful to me! {especially when I click on 'em, and make 'em life size!!!}

I have a container almost just like that. I use it to put remote controls in although now that I think about it I'm the only one that uses it for that. Anyway, great minds think alike right?? Well, except for the birds but that's ok!

This is really clever. I have a few teeny-tiny lamps this might be good for. They're just blah by themselves. Thanks for the awesome tut and inspiration.

Oh my goodness how cute is this lamp arrangement. What a great idea. I am going to attempt this project. My only issue is with the hot glue gun. When ever I use a hot glue gun I usually end up needing burn ointment and bandages for my self inflicted injuries. Thanks for the awesome tutorial.
